Supajutsu First Playable 0.1.0

This project came from the idea of close-combat like pocket/clinch fighting in martial arts. The main movement mechanic changes the depth(z value) of a player’s character. Moving through the scene occurs when a successful attack collision collides with opponent block/hurt box. A multitude of fighting games have influenced the overall combat feel that is Supajutsu.

The inner voice allows a player to add strengths to common weaknesses in fighting game character archetypes. Chaga is built like a Glass Cannon and Rhassoul is built as a Bully with a slow projectile. I imagine that the more moves added will help a player define a unique and competitive play style. Finally, the plan is to reward winners of fights with more skills or input moves so the gameplay can become inventive and remain fresh, thus the RPG-lite genre that needs further development.

Furthermore, the goal is to create a competitive fighting game that shallows the learning curve just enough a newbie with can enter the magic circle quicker. I may make a physical arcade cabinet of Supajutsu. Many characters(10-14) are planned for this game but the animation process is not cheap. Gamepad is recommended. PS4 controller was used to test development.

Bugs and Errors

There are a few known bugs. One bug locks a player in animation, usually hurt or charging animation. One way a player can unlock their character is to press block input

I implemented the character sprites a bit inefficiently which could be the cause of the animation lock issue

Chaga’s Back Block places hurt box to the far right of the screen which causes a premature cliff fall.

Chaga has no motion inputs

No Time Limit

No Death Animation

Basic Hurt Animation, needs more detail and frames

No two gamepad supported yet

Problems with switch controller

No character reflections in shadow puddle path

If Supajutsu does not get enough public attention I’ll be forced to phoenix the project into something else

If you do play please leave some feedback, have fun!
